Papers/Canvas

All printing devices, which can be divided into the following three main groups, can be used for both printing color and black and white photos:

 1) Gloss, satin, semi-gloss papers: allow to obtain more contrasty images and deeper blacks.

Gold.Fibre.Silk

- Ilford Galerie Prestige Gold Fibre Silk 310 g/mq features an inkjet layer coated directly onto a true baryta (barium sulphate) layer and fibre base to produce images with exceptional gamut for vivid colour reproduction as well as creamy whites and velvety blacks for the unique look of traditional silver halide photo paper.

The media creates high definition images with an extended tonal range and excellent archival properties making it a must for exhibition quality prints. This versatile media is perfect for colour images with vibrancy and depth or for producing a sympathetic re-creation of a traditional black and white image. As with true black and white images, the photographer can create the look of chemically toned sepia, gold, selenium and blue images but unlike chemical toning, the number of variations are only limited by the photographer’s imagination.

smooth_pearl

Tela_verniciata_opaca

- Opaque painted canvas, this precious finish is obtained by manually painting the printed canvas with a brush. In that way, general brightness of the colors is enhanced and above all, the printing is much more resistant to abrasions and cleaning of the surface.

The matte finish minimizes the interference of reflections caused by luminous sources. Once printed it can be mounted on a wooden frame with thickness of 17, 30 or 45 mm. and directly hung on the wall or eventually framed.

Tela_verniciata_lucida

- Gloss painted canvas, this precious finish, typical of oil paintings, is obtained by manually painting the printed canvas with a brush.  In that way, general brightness of the colors and contrast are increased, blacks seem to be deeper and the printing is much more resistant to abrasions and to cleaning of the surface. In the reproduction of paintings, this type of finish makes the surface of the print similar to that of the original painting. Once printed it can be mounted on a wooden frame with a thickness of 17, 30 or 45 mm. and directly hung or eventually framed.

Tela_invecchiata
- Aged canvas, this precious finish is obtained by hand-drawing four coats of paint with a paintbrush.

At the end of the procedure the print acquires an aged aspect and looks cracked like an old painting. The surface is resistant to abrasions and to cleaning. The aged printing acquires a dominant tending to yellow and is therefore ill-suited to subjects in black and white or with a predominance of light shades. Once printed can be mounted on a wooden frame with thickness of 17, 30 or 45 mm. and directly hung or eventually framed.
